15. Reporting COSA Activity
2003
A. CSC Contract Projects
Projects under contract with the Correctional Service of Canada, Chaplaincy Division, require regular reporting as one of the "deliverables" in the contract agreement. The format for such reports is detailed in Appendix D below; they should be distributed to the following people at a minimum:
- National Chaplaincy Directorate;
- Local Regional Chaplain (Contract Authority);
- Regional COSA Coordinator.
B. Non-CSC Contract Project
Other projects should establish an accountability relationship with a Board of Directors, Advisory Panel or other body that can provide oversight, direction and accountability. Accountability implies a reporting relationship and it is an important part of COSA. Your community, includes corrections officials, police and funding sources, will want to know if the COSA is accountable to other members of the community. This is true for projects under contract to the CSC as well. The form in Appendix D below may be useful as a format for those reports.
C. Research and Evaluation and Resource Planning Purposes
Reporting is also useful for research and evaluation as well as planning for the distribution of available resources both locally and nationally. All projects using the COSA model should agree to submit a report in the format described below in Appendix D.
D. National and International Project Inventories
For the purposes of national and international relationships, it will be highly useful to keep track of COSA activities across Canada, regardless of the presence or absence of any contractual relationships with the government. It is hoped that through formal (as in contract "deliverables" mentioned above) and informal reporting, an accurate reflection of COSA and COSA-like activities in Canada can be shared with our national and international partners.
