Bev Arseneault
Bev Arseneault was named Acting Assistant Commissioner Communications and Engagement on February 20, 2012.
Ms. Arseneault began working for the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) in 1994 as a Sex Offender Therapist at Warkworth Institution. In 1997, she moved to the Kingston area to work first as a Parole Officer at Bath Institution, and then in Performance Measurement at Regional Headquarters. Ms. Arseneault then moved to CSC's National Headquarters, where she was the Manager of the Human Rights unit, as well as a Project Officer in the Policy Division of the Policy and Research Sector. In 2003, she joined the Management team of Pê Sâkâstêw Centre in the Prairie Region, assuming responsibility for the Programs Department.
Ms. Arseneault returned to National Headquarters to work in the Institutional Reintegration Operations Division, and was soon promoted to Director of the Offender Redress Division, clearing a backlog of third-level offender grievances and completing a comprehensive review of the offender redress system. In 2006, Ms. Arseneault became the Director of the Community Reintegration Operations Division and was later promoted to the Director General Community Reintegration Branch. Under her leadership, the team advanced a number of key initiatives related to community corrections, including strengthening community partnerships, community staff safety, a review of Community Residential Facilities, developing a policy framework and reviewing the community resourcing model, moving forward the Community Corrections Liaison Officer initiative, overseeing the Electronic Monitoring pilot project and beginning the work on CSC's Community Corrections Strategy in consultation with many of CSC's partners.
In the fall of 2010, she acted as the Director General Executive Services and in December 2010, she was appointed to the position of Chief of Staff in the Commissioner's Office. In May 2011, Ms. Arseneault was the recipient of the St. Leonard's Society of Canada Gallagher Award.
Ms. Arseneault holds a Masters Degree in Social Work from Wilfrid Laurier University in Kitchener, Ontario, and a Bachelor of Social Work from Ryerson Polytechnic Institute in Toronto, Ontario.
