Why was the policy changed?

As part of the Management Action Plan developed following an evaluation of CSC’s Health Services, a recommendation was made to develop guidelines and procedures to retain and track ID in the Offender Management System Renewal – Offender Personal Property module (OMSR-OPP).

What has changed?

Paragraph 58 of CD 566-12 is being clarified to include various forms of identification cards.

Valuables (not exceeding $1,000) and important documents (e.g. health cards, driver’s licenses, SIN cards, citizenship cards, birth certificates, etc.) will be recorded on the Inmate Personal Property Record and will be securely stored in a fireproof cabinet or safe within the Admission and Discharge area. Items stored in this manner will be photographed and the inmate will sign the Inmate Personal Property Record to confirm its authenticity.

The photograph and the Inmate Personal Property Record will be stored electronically in OMSR-OPP and will remain in the Admission and Discharge file.

Security Operations worked in consultation with  the Reintegration Operations Division, who have been tasked with the lead on this initiative.
