Pre-Doctoral Internships in Psychology with the Correctional Service of Canada, 2017-2018
The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) is offering one-year accredited clinical psychology internships in the Ontario Region.
These internships subscribe to a practitioner/scholar model and focus on the development of a range of generalist skills and abilities applicable in a wide range of clinical settings. They also aim to prepare students to meet competency requirements for a practice in correctional/forensic psychology.
Two positions are available, based in the Kingston, Ontario area. The internship program is accredited by the Canadian Psychological Association for the term 2012-2013 through 2015-2016 and is currently undergoing the re-accreditation process. CSC is also a member of the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC) and the Canadian Council of Professional Psychology Programs (CCPPP).
The internships are open only to students in Canadian Psychological Association or American Psychological Association-accredited (or equivalent) doctoral programs in clinical and counseling psychology. Applicants must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada and must apply through the APPIC Match process. The program code number is 1858 and the application deadline is November 4, 2016.
CSC is the federal government agency responsible for administering sentences of two or more years. There are more than 50 psychology positions in the Ontario Region. Psychologists provide clinical, counseling and correctional/forensic services to men and women offenders, including both those who are incarcerated, as well as those who have been released (on parole) to the community.
