Audio-visual resources
The following three videos are available for promotion of Circles of Support and Accountability, the recruitment and training of volunteers and the education of professionals and the faith community. We invite you to order a DVD of these three videos by completing the DVD/Video User Agreement available online.
NO ONE IS DISPOSABLE
No One Is Disposable is the first of the series of videos developed shortly after Circles of Support and Accountability (COSA) initiatives began in the Greater Toronto area. Vision Television, a religious broadcasting company, produced the video in order to describe this service which is provided primarily by individuals and volunteers from the faith communities. It describes what COSAs are, what volunteers do and various aspects of how COSAs function.
NO MORE VICTIMS: ACCOUNTABILITY AND COMMUNITY SAFETY
This second video also assists with training volunteers. It emphasizes the importance of accountability within a context of "support" or friendship. No More Victims demonstrates how support coupled with accountability can bring about a safer society. It was filmed on the streets of Toronto with its bright lights and many distractions. A major focus of this film is how the COSA becomes a micro-community as it covenants, meets, and walks daily with the released offender. No More Victims has some provocative scenes that are very engaging.
FORGING A COMMUNITY
This video was produced to depict the process of forming a COSA and is geared toward a more professional audience. While this video is very helpful as a training tool, it also highlights the tensions that several professional groups work through in order to assist with COSA projects. It depicts police officers and other professionals wrestling with the prospect of having sex offenders live in their neighborhood and some of their considerations when working with sex offenders. Forging a Community invites professionals to explore their role with COSA.
