Get Involved

Correctional Service Canada (CSC) encourages offenders to develop and maintain relationships with individuals and groups in the community for social and cultural purposes. To that end, CSC has developed relationships with various ethnocultural community organizations to help in the development of policies and through the National Ethnocultural Advisory Committee (NEAC) and the Regional Ethnocultural Advisory Committees (REAC), encourages citizens to participate as volunteers in activities designed to help ethnocultural offenders become law-abiding citizens.

The community can get involved in the social reintegration of offenders in several ways. Your gift of time, advice, expertise, and encouragement to the ethnocultural offenders under CSC jurisdiction are all valuable ways to contribute to public safety. As a volunteer with CSC you can:

  • Act as a positive role model;
  • Work with offenders from various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds;
  • Help deliver services and interventions to offenders;
  • Assist CSC staff in activities designed to help offenders become law-abiding citizens;
  • Help offenders access services to re-direct their lives upon release;
  • Help released offenders re-adjust to life in the community;
  • Provide advice to CSC, based on community feedback; and
  • Play an important role in the rehabilitation process.

Join us! Become a volunteer with CSC if you're interested in contributing to the community reintegration process of ethnocultural offenders in your region.

Partners

CSC works with internal and external partners. Groups such as the National and Regional Ethnocultural Advisory Committees (NEAC and REAC), Parole Board of Canada (PBC), and Chaplaincy Services have contributed significantly to promoting respect and human dignity, raising the awareness of CSC staff, and encouraging partnerships with ethnocultural communities.
