Facilities & Security

Did you know?
In total, CSC expects to add more than 2,700 accommodation spaces to men's and women's penitentiaries across the country.
The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) has a presence from coast to coast - from large urban centres with their increasingly diverse populations, to remote Inuit communities across the North.
Each major correctional institution is representative of a small community, containing a broad and diverse range of building types for a variety of uses, including accommodation, program, office, institutional services, spirituality, healthcare, employment and recreation. The facilities are often unique and complex, in response to security and other specialized operational requirements.
CSC manages:
- 57 Institutions including four Aboriginal Healing Lodges
- 16 Community Correctional Centres
- 92 Parole offices
In addition, CSC has partnerships with non-government organizations. These partner agencies operate approximately 200 community residential facilities across the country, providing accommodation, 24-hour supervision, counselling and programming to help offenders who have been released under supervision to successfully reintegrate into the community.
