About the Institution

Springhill Institution is a medium-security facility, located on a plateau overlooking the town of Springhill, Nova Scotia.

The facility operates a reception centre for the Atlantic region.

As part of CSC's efforts to encourage inmates to become law-abiding citizens, CSC offers various national correctional programs.

Work is now underway to increase capacity at the Institution. Construction of two new 96-bed living units is expected to be complete in 2012-2013. Delivery of correctional and rehabilitation programs is also being expanded.
