La Macaza Institution
Macaza Institution is located in La Macaza, Quebec, in the Laurentians region about 190 kilometres northwest of Montréal, beside the Mont Tremblant International Airport.
Historically, in the early 1960s, the site was used as a military base. In 1970, the base was deserted, to later become collège Manitou, a school for Indigenous students, before becoming a prison facility. Correctional Service Canada acquired all of the facilities of this institution in 1977.
La Macaza Institution, a stand-alone medium security facility, is built on an open campus model.
