About the Institution

Willow Cree Healing Lodge is a minimum security facility located in Duck Lake, Saskatchewan. The institution is based on a healing lodge design model where offender accommodations are residential houses.

The Elders chose the site with healing in mind. WCHL was built in a pristine natural area, sacred to the Willow Cree. The design of the healing lodge reflects the culture of the surrounding Aboriginal communities. WCHL promotes a healing process based on Aboriginal culture for the successful reintegration of Aboriginal offenders.

WCHL is currently a 40-bed facility, with plans for it to double its capacity to 80 beds in 2013.

Programs at the healing lodge include locally developed programs to address Substance Abuse, Family Violence, Traditional Parenting, Anger Management, and Sex Offender Programs, in addition to CSC core programs and Elder services.
