Willow Cree Healing Centre
About the Institution
Willow Cree Healing Lodge is in Duck Lake, Saskatchewan. It is a minimum security facility. Inmates live in residential houses.
The Elders chose the site with healing in mind. WCHL was built in a pristine natural area, sacred to the Willow Cree. The design of the healing lodge reflects the culture of the surrounding Aboriginal communities. WCHL promotes a healing process based on Aboriginal culture. This contributes to the successful reintegration of Aboriginal offenders.
A 40-bed expansion was completed in May 2013.
