About the Institution

Matsqui Institution is a medium-security facility located about 71 kilometres from Vancouver.

Currently, inmates are housed in a three-story living unit with a central core of security control posts.

As part of CSC's efforts to encourage inmates to become law-abiding citizens, CSC offers various national correctional programs.

Work is now underway to increase capacity at the Institution. Construction of one new 96-bed living unit is expected to be complete in 2012-2013. Delivery of correctional and rehabilitation programs is also being expanded.
