About the Institution

The Pacific Institution/Regional Treatment Centre is a multi-level security complex located two kilometres south of Abbotsford in the central Fraser Valley, about 80 kilometres east of Vancouver.

The Regional Treatment Centre is equipped with a psychiatric care unit, a health centre and a rehabilitation unit. The Pacific Institution has a regional reception/assessment centre and an intensive program unit.

As part of CSC's efforts to encourage inmates to become law-abiding citizens, CSC offers various national correctional programs.

Work is now underway to increase capacity at the Institution. Construction of one new 96-bed living unit is expected to be complete in 2013-2014. Delivery of correctional and rehabilitation programs is also being expanded.
