Seizure of Drugs at Joyceville Institution
At approximately 11:30am, on May 5, 2013, Correctional Officers intercepted a visitor who was attempting to introduce drugs into Joyceville Institution, a medium security federal penitentiary. This seizure was the result of the combined efforts of Correctional Officers, the Detector Dog Team and Security Intelligence Officers. The contraband seized included 6.52 grams of cocaine. The total institutional value of this seizure is estimated at approximately $6,500. The visitor was arrested by the OPP Joint Forces Penitentiary Squad, and may face criminal charges. Read more. Death of inmate at Kent Institution

Seizure of unauthorized substances at Cowansville Institution
On April 30, 2013, as a result of the vigilance of correctional staff at Cowansville Institution, a medium-security federal penitentiary, objects with suspicious content were recovered on the perimeter of the institution. Upon inspection, a total of 276,9 grams of tobacco was concealed in the objects. The estimated institutional value of the seizure is $4,430.Read more.
