The Correctional Service of Canada announces beginning of nomination period for the 2012 National Ron Wiebe Restorative Justice Award
Recognizing those who model restorative justice principles in the service of justice and peace
Ottawa, Ontario, April 25, 2012 – The Restorative Justice Division of the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) is pleased to announce that it is now accepting nominations for the 2012 National Ron Wiebe Restorative Justice Award.
Members of the public are invited to nominate Canadian individuals and/or groups who:
- demonstrate, through their work and/or community service, ways of transforming human relations; and
- enable and promote communication and healing between people affected by crime and/or conflict, whether they are victims, offenders, colleagues, families, neighbours, etc.
This award recognizes individuals or groups who incorporate the restorative justice approach in their work, community service, and/or lifestyle. The award is open to all Canadians who model restorative justice principles in the service of justice and peace.
The deadline for submitting nominations is July 12, 2012.
The recipient of the 14th annual National Ron Wiebe Restorative Justice Award will be announced on November 19th, 2012 during the National Restorative Justice Symposium Banquet in Winnipeg, Manitoba in celebration of Restorative Justice Week 2012.
