lockdown and search at dorchester penitentiary

Renous, New Brunswick, September 28, 2012 – At approximately 8:00 am, on September 27, 2012, Atlantic Institution, a maximum-security federal penitentiary was placed on lockdown in order to facilitate a search of the institution.

The search is being conducted to ensure the ongoing safety and security of the institution, its staff and the inmates. The institution will return to normal routine when it is determined safe to do so.

With the exception of Private Family Visits, all visits will be suspended until the search has been completed.
