Escape from Montée St-François Institution

Laval, Quebec, January 11, 2012 – On January 11, 2012, at approximately 5:15 p.m., during a headcount, personnel of Montée St-François Institution, a minimum-security federal institution located in Laval, discovered that inmate Michel Comeau had escaped.

Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) immediately notified the police and an arrest warrant has been issued. CSC will continue to work with the police in an effort to locate the offender as quickly as possible. Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of Michel Comeau is asked to contact police.

Michel Comeau, 41 years old, is described as 1 m 73 (5’ 7’’) in height, his weight is 73 Kg (161 lbs). He has green eyes and brown hair, a tribal tattoo on his left arm and a dragon tattoo on his right arm. He is serving a 2 year, 9 month and 15 day sentence since July 13, 2011 for possession and use of a stolen credit card, theft, fraud and breaking and entering.

CSC will review the circumstances surrounding the incident and will take necessary measures to address any safety and security issues resulting from this incident.
