Death of Inmate at Archambault Institution

Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines, Québec, January 16, 2012 – On January 13, 2012, inmate Gordon Boucher, from Archambault Institution, died of apparent natural causes at the Cité de la Santé hospital in Laval.

At the time of his death, Mr. Boucher, 68, was serving a 2-year federal sentence for sexual assault with a weapon and assault with a weapon. His sentence had commenced on November 15, 2011.

As in all cases where an individual dies while in custody, the police and coroner have been notified. In addition, the Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances surrounding the incident.
