Death of Inmate at Drummond Institution

Drummondville, Quebec, May 7, 2012  – On May 6, 2012, at approximately at 7:30 a.m., Serge Perron, an inmate from Drummond Institution, died of apparent natural causes following a lengthy illness, at Sainte-Croix Hospital in Drummondville. 

At the time of his death, Mr. Perron, 58 years old, was serving a 2 year sentence for robbery and possession of weapon for dangerous purpose. His sentence had commenced on October 12, 2011  

Next of kin have been notified.

As in all cases where an individual dies while in custody, the police and coroner have been notified. In addition, the Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances surrounding the incident.
