Death of Inmate at Bath Institution

Kingston, Ontario, February 16, 2012 – On February 16, 2012, inmate Douglas Norman Fraser from Bath Institution died of natural causes. He had been at outside hospital for treatment following an extended illness.

At the time of his death, Mr. Fraser, 59, was serving a life sentence for second degree murder. His sentence had commenced on September 7, 2007.

Next of kin have been notified.

As in all cases where an individual dies while in custody, the police and coroner have been notified. In addition, the Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances surrounding the incident.
