Death of Inmate at Beaver Creek Institution

Gravenhurst, Ontario, March 6, 2012 – On March 5, 2012, inmate Philip Lebrocq from Beaver Creek Institution died of apparent natural causes at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital in Bracebridge.

At the time of his death, Mr. Lebrocq, age 70, was serving a four-year sentence for six counts of sexual assault. His sentence had commenced on April 12, 2010.

Next of kin have been notified.

As in all cases where an individual dies while in custody, the police and coroner have been notified. In addition, the Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances surrounding the incident.
