End of Lockdown and Search at Joyceville Institution

Kingston, Ontario, March 15, 2012 – The lockdown and search at Joyceville Institution initiated on March 6, 2012 has concluded. At approximately 8:00 a.m. on March 15, 2012, the institution returned to normal operations.

During the search, staff seized a number of unauthorized items.

Visits to the institution have been re-instated.

The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) is committed to preventing contraband from entering its institutions. Our efforts contribute towards ensuring a safe and secure environment for staff and inmates.
