Death of Inmate from Joyceville Institution

Kingston, Ontario, July 3, 2012 –On July 2, 2012, inmate Lawrence William TAYLOR from Joyceville Institution died of natural causes at Kingston Penitentiary’s Regional Hospital in Kingston, Ontario.  He had been at outside hospital for treatment following an extended illness.

At the time of his death, Mr. TAYLOR, 63, was serving an indeterminate sentence for second degree murder.  His sentence had commenced on October 28, 1988. 

Next of kin have been notified.

As in all cases where an individual dies while in custody, the police and coroner have been notified. In addition, the Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances surrounding the incident.
