Change of Command Ceremonies for Ontario Region
Kingston, Ontario, October 1, 2012 – During the past week the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) held four Change of Command Ceremonies in the Ontario Region. These occasions marked the change in command of the following:
Millhaven Institution recognized outgoing Warden Curtis Jackson and incoming Warden Kevin Snedden.
Bath Institution recognized outgoing Warden Cecil Vrieswyk and incoming Warden Theresa Westfall.
Collins Bay Institution recognized outgoing Warden Julie Blasko and incoming Warden Curtis Jackson.
Greater Ontario Nunavut District recognized outgoing District Director June Blackburn and incoming District Director Julie Blasko.
This ceremony highlights the importance of being a leader within the CSC and the responsibilities associated with taking on these roles. It provides CSC with a valuable opportunity to gather together and witness the passing of responsibility for the safety and security of staff, offenders and the community from one person to another.
The Change of Command Ceremony is an important tradition for CSC as part of its focus on pride and tradition. It is also an opportunity for the organization to celebrate its traditions and reaffirms the incoming leader’s commitment to enhancing public safety results for Canadians.
