Death of Patient at the Regional Psychiatric Centre in Saskatoon

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, March 25, 2012 - On March 25, 2012, patient Dennis Albert from the Regional Psychiatric Centre died of natural causes following a lengthy illness in the institutional hospital in Saskatoon.

At the time of his death, Mr. Albert, 56, was serving an indeterminate sentence for Sexual Assault and Assault – Use of Force. His sentence had commenced on May 27, 1999.

Next of kin have been notified.

As in all cases where an individual dies while in custody, the police and coroner have been notified. In addition, the Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances surrounding the incident.
