Escape from Bowden Institution
Innisfail, Alberta, April 27, 2012 - On April 26, 2012, inmate Dean Leonard McClelland was discovered missing during the Bowden Institution Minimum Security Annex 10:15 p.m. count. The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) immediately contacted the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.
Dean Leonard McClelland, 46 years old, is described as 187 cm (6'2") in height, his weight is 68 kg (150 lbs), he has blue eyes and red hair, and has tattoos on his hands, arms, legs, back and chest. He is currently serving a three-year, eight-month, 15 day sentence for Mischief in Relation to Property (over), Criminal Harassment, Mischief in Relation to Property – Other (x3), and Arson – Damage to Property.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Dean McClelland is asked to contact police.
CSC will be conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident and are working with the RCMP to locate this offender as quickly as possible.
CSC has given the police all available information to assist in the inmate's apprehension.
