Death of Inmate at the Regional Psychiatric Centre

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, February 19, 2013 – On February 19, 2013, inmate Angelo Jaja Longa from the Regional Psychiatric Centre died of apparent natural causes in the institutional hospital.

At the time of his death, Mr. Longa, age 40, was serving a sentence of three years for sexual assault. His sentence had commenced November 3, 2011.

Next of kin have been notified.

As in all cases where an individual dies while in custody, the police and coroner have been notified. In addition, the Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances surrounding the incident.
