Death of inmate from Stony Mountain Institution

Winnipeg, Manitoba, March 28, 2013 – On March 28, 2013, inmate Terry Gerard Quill, from Stony Mountain Institution, died of a pre-existing medical condition at a Winnipeg hospital.

At the time of his death, Mr. Quill, age 35, was serving a 4 year, 8 month, 17 day sentence for Aggravated Assault. His sentence had commenced on June 24, 2010.

Next of kin have been notified.

As in all cases where an individual dies while in custody, the police and coroner have been notified. In addition, the Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances surrounding the incident.
