Death of Inmate at the Regional Treatment Center (Pacific)

Abbotsford, British Columbia, February 21, 2012 – On February 19, 2012, inmate Allen Fehr from the Regional Treatment Centre (Pacific) died of apparent natural causes following a lengthy illness.

At the time of his death, Mr. Fehr, 44 years old, was serving an eight year sentence for Possession of a Schedule III Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (x2), Possession of a Schedule I/II Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (x3), and Conspire to Commit an Indictable Offense (x2).  His sentence had commenced on January 3, 2001.

Next of kin have been notified.

As in all cases where an individual dies while in custody, the police and coroner have been notified. In addition, the Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances surrounding the incident.
