Death of Inmate at the Regional Treatment Centre (Pacific)
Abbotsford, British Columbia, March 5, 2012 – On March 4, 2012, inmate Keith Lucky Whetstone from the Regional Treatment Centre (Pacific) died of apparent natural causes following a lengthy illness.
At the time of his death, Mr. Whetstone, 64 years old, was serving a nine-year sentence for Robbery with Threats of Violence (x7), Robbery, and Breach of Long Term Supervision Order. His sentence had commenced on July 21, 2004.
Next of kin have been notified.
As in all cases where an individual dies while in custody, the police and coroner have been notified. In addition, the Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances surrounding the incident.
