Lockdown at Matsqui Institution

Abbotsford, British Columbia, July 19, 2012 – At approximately 11:00 a.m., on July 18, 2012, Matsqui Institution, a medium-security federal penitentiary, was placed on lockdown.

Visits to the institution have been suspended until further notice.

The safety and security of our institutions is the primary consideration of the Correctional Service of Canada. The institution will re-open as soon as it is determined safe to do so.
