Death of Inmate at Mountain Institution

Agassiz, British Columbia, July 23, 2012 – On Friday July 20, 2012, inmate Warren Robert Allen from Mountain Institution was found unresponsive in his cell. Correctional Officers immediately performed CPR and an ambulance was called.

The offender was taken to the Chilliwack General Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 2:14 p.m.

At the time of his death, inmate Allen, 54, was serving a sentence of three years and three months for Sexual Assault and Distribute/Sell Child Pornography. His sentence had commenced on January 20, 2012.

As in all cases where an individual dies while in custody, the police and coroner have been notified. In addition, the Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances surrounding the incident.
