Death of Inmate at William Head Institution

Metchosin, British Columbia, February 25, 2013 – On February 23, 2013, inmate Richard Hall from William Head Institution was found unresponsive. Correctional Officers immediately performed CPR and an ambulance was called. 

The offender was taken to the Victoria General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

At the time of his death, Mr. Hall, 47, was serving a life sentence for Second Degree Murder and Aggravated Assault. His sentence had commenced on March 8, 1985. 

Next of kin have been notified.

As in all cases where an individual dies while in custody, the police and coroner have been notified. In addition, the Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances surrounding the incident.
