Death of Inmate at Pacific Institution
Abbotsford, British Columbia, March 15, 2013 – On March 14, 2013, inmate Frank Tamok from Pacific Institution died following a lengthy illness in the institutional hospital.
At the time of his death, Mr. Tamok, 73 years of age, was serving a six year, 11 month sentence for Causing Death by Criminal Negligence, Causing Bodily Harm by Criminal Negligence and Failing to Stop at a Motor Vehicle Accident. His sentence had commenced on July 19, 2012.
Next-of-kin have been notified.
As in all cases where an individual dies while in custody, the police and coroner have been notified. In addition, the Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances surrounding the incident.
