Death of inmate at Kent Institution
Agassiz, British Columbia, May 6, 2013 – On Friday, May 3, 2013, inmate Jesse Lahn from Kent Institution was found unresponsive in his cell. Correctional Officers immediately performed CPR.
Ambulance services were notified and arrived at the institution, but were unable to revive the offender.
At the time of his death, Mr. Lahn, 33, was serving a two year sentence for Robbery, Attempted Indictable Offence, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over, Kidnap, Unlawful Confinement and Armed Robbery. His sentence had commenced on November 24, 2011.
Next of kin have been notified.
As in all cases where an individual dies while in custody, the police and coroner have been notified. In addition, the Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances surrounding the incident.
