The Correctional Service of Canada announces beginning of nomination period for the 2011 National Ron Wiebe Restorative Justice Award

Recognizing those who model restorative justice principles in the service of justice and peace

Ottawa, Ontario, Friday, May 20, 2011 – The Restorative Justice Division of the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) is pleased to announce that it is now accepting nominations for the 2011 National Ron Wiebe Restorative Justice Award.

Members of the public are invited to nominate Canadian individuals and/or groups who:

  • model restorative justice principles in the service of justice and peace;
  • demonstrate, through their work and/or community service, ways of transforming human relations; and
  • enable and promote communication and healing between people affected by crime and/or conflict, whether they are victims, offenders, colleagues, families, neighbours etc.

The deadline for submitting nominations is July 14, 2011.

The recipient of the 13th annual National Ron Wiebe Restorative Justice Award will be announced on Nov. 14, 2011 during the National Restorative Justice Symposium Banquet in Kamloops, B.C. in celebration of Restorative Justice Week 2011.
