DEATH OF AN INMATE FROM THE REGIONAL RECEPTION CENTRE

Laval (Québec), September 30, 2011– On September 30, 2011, Clifford Olson, an inmate from the Regional Reception Centre, a multi-level federal penitentiary in Ste-Anne-des-Plaines, died of apparent natural causes. At the time of his death, M. Olson was at the institutional Health Care Centre of the Archambault Institution in Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines.

Clifford Olson, 71, was serving a life sentence for 11 counts of first degree murder. Next of kin have been notified.

As in all cases where an individual dies while in custody, the police and coroner have been notified. In addition, the Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances surrounding the incident.
