FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MEDIA DEMONSTRATION: SUBSTANCE DETECTION AND TRACKING

Memramcook, N.B., August 26, 2004 - Media representatives are invited to attend a special demonstration of the work done by dog handlers and dogs from various law enforcements and other governmental agencies, between 9:00 and 10:00, on Monday, August 30, 2004, at Correctional Service of Canada's Regional Training Facilities (Memramcook Institute), in Memramcook, N.B.

This demonstration coincides with the annual seminar of the Quebec Police Dog Handlers Association, held for the first time in Atlantic Canada and hosted in collaboration with Correctional Service Canada.

Many teams of dog handlers / dogs operating in this region have been trained at the Rigaud Learning Centre (Canada Border Services Agency) in Rigaud, Quebec, and take part in such seminar in order to share and perfect their knowledge in matters such as tracking and detection of different substances related to their work. Approximately 60 teams are expected to take part in this year seminar.
