WESTMORLAND, NB, January 11, 2005 - Through various worthy initiatives over the years, Correctional Service Canada staff and offenders under federal jurisdictions have contributed to the wellbeing of their communities.
On Thursday, January 13, 2005, the staff and inmates of the Westmorland Institution are organizing an event to join in the international relief effort for the victims and survivors of the Tsunami.
Starting at noon, staff and inmates will serve a lunch consisting of fried rice, flat bread and pure water, and will discuss the situation in the affected countries surrounding the Indian Ocean. An invitation has been extended to the population of the Village of Dorchester and various dignitaries to partake in this meal. All monetary donations will be forwarded to international aid agencies.
Westmorland is a Minimum security institution located in the Village of Dorchester, in south-eastern New Brunswick.
