DORCHESTER, NB, June 13, 2005 - The Dorchester Penitentiary remains in lockdown as Correctional Service Canada continues the analysis and review of all circumstances leading up to a number of assaults that took place over a 24 hour period beginning around supper time last Friday, June 10, 2005.
The lockdown will remain in effect until it is determined that it is safe to return to normal operations.
In the meantime, inmates will be permitted to have a brief period of exercise each day and will receive their meals in their cells.
CSC has identified a number of inmates involved in the incidents and they are no longer in the general population.
Dorchester Penitentiary is a medium-security institution located in the village of Dorchester, in South-Eastern New Brunswick.
