FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DORCHESTER, NB, July 13, 2005 - Late in the afternoon of July 12^th, 2005, federal inmate Roger Babineau, 46 year old, passed away while in the custody of the Correctional Service of Canada.

While being treated at the Moncton Hospital, Mr. Babineau died of natural causes, therefore foul play has been ruled out.

Roger Babineau was serving a sentence of 3 years and 2 months, which started in May 2004, for non-violent property related offences.

He was originally from the Shédiac, N.B. area. Family members have been notified.

Dorchester Penitentiary is a medium security institution located in Dorchester, New Brunswick.
