FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

RENOUS, NB, August 18, 2005 - At approximately 13:35 on Thursday, August 18, 2005, 62 inmates from Unit 1 at Atlantic Institution refused to lock up in their cells.

Talks are ongoing between the group of offenders and the institutional management.

No injuries or damage has been reported.

The rest of the inmates in the institution who are not involved or affected were served their evening meals.

The RCMP has been notified.

Atlantic Institution is a maximum-security facility located in the village of Renous, New Brunswick.
