FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DORCHESTER, NB, August 23, 2005 - An inmate has escaped from the minimum security Westmorland Institution in the village of Dorchester in Southeastern New Brunswick.

Robert Conway, 43 years old, was noticed missing on Monday, August 22, 2005, during the 16:45 hour count.

Robert Conway is serving a sentence of 6 years, 6 months for assault causing bodily harm and a series of other offences for theft.

The RCMP was notified of the incident. CSC cooperates fully with the police investigation.

Correctional Service of Canada will conduct a review all the circumstances surrounding the incident.

CSC reviews all security incidents to ensure that it is taking the best measures possible with the aim of preventing such incidents.
