FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DORCHESTER, N.B., September 20, 2005 - Just before noon, on Tuesday, September 20, 2005, a group of inmates were involved in a fight inside housing unit 29, at the Westmorland Institution.

Four inmates incurred injuries. Three inmates were treated at the institution by health care staff. One inmate was transferred to an outside hospital, where his condition is listed as stable.

RCMP was notified of this incident and is currently investigating.

The Correctional Service of Canada will review all circumstances surrounding this incident.

Westmorland is a minimum security institution in the village of Dorchester, in southeastern New Brunswick.
