DORCHESTER, NB, December 30, 2005 - The lockdown at Dorchester Penitentiary has been lifted. The institution will gradually re-open this evening whereby inmates will have limited privileges. Inmate movement will be restricted to certain areas as a scaled-down search continues in certain areas of the Penitentiary.
At this point, no contraband has been found. An assessment has concluded that it is safe to return to a limited opening.
Dorchester Penitentiary is a medium security institution located in the Village of Dorchester in southeastern New Brunswick.
