FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DORCHESTER, NB, June 25, 2006 - Two inmates have escaped from the minimum security Westmorland Institution in the village of Dorchester, New Brunswick.

Shane Oulton, 25 years old and Barry Smith, 34 years old, were noticed missing during the 22:30 count last night, Saturday, June 24, 2006.

Shane Oulton is serving a sentence of 7 years, for break and enter and a series of other offences for theft.

Barry Smith is serving a sentence of 2 years, 6 months for break and enter.

The RCMP have been notified of the incident. CSC cooperates fully with the police investigation.

The Correctional Service of Canada will conduct a review of all the circumstances surrounding the incident.
