FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ESCAPES FROM WESTMORLAND INSTITUTION - UPDATE 1

DORCHESTER, NB, July 10, 2006 - Offender William Miller, who had escaped from Westmorland Institution, in the early morning of Saturday July 8, 2006, has been apprehended by the RCMP in Moncton, just before noon, today, Monday, July 10, 2006.

William Miller will be transferred from police custody to a medium security institution.

William Miller is serving a sentence of 1 year, 2 months and one day for property related offences, that started on February 27, 2006.

William Miller and James Lahey were noticed missing at 06:35, am, on Saturday, July 8, 2006.

Police are still investigating the whereabouts of offender James Lahey, who was sentenced on April 29, 1998, to an indeterminate sentence for second degree murder.

CSC is actively cooperating with the police investigation.

The Correctional Service of Canada will conduct a review of all the circumstances surrounding this incident.
