FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ESCAPEE FROM WESTMORLAND INSTITUTION RECAPTURED

DORCHESTER, NB, August 22, 2006 - Shane Oulton, 25, who escaped from the Westmorland Minimum Security Institution on June 24, 2006, was recaptured in Ste-Rose, Manitoba on Aug. 21, 2006, by the RCMP.

He is currently being housed at the Dauphin Correctional Institution (provincial) which is a temporary placement. He will be transferred back to federal custody.

At the time of his escape, Oulton was serving a sentence of 7 years, for break and enter and a series of other offences for theft.

Barry Smith, 34, who escaped with Oulton is still unlawfully at large. He was serving a sentence of 2 years, 6 months for break and enter.
