FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

RENOUS, NB, July 13, 2007 - On Tuesday, July 10th, 2007, 61 inmates housed in Unit 1 at Atlantic Institution were placed on a lockdown status.

Following an investigation and a search of Unit 1, four inmates were segregated and three homemade weapons were seized.

The lockdown of Unit 1 has ended and the Institution has returned to normal routine.

Atlantic Institution is a maximum-security institution located in the village of Renous, New Brunswick, which currently houses 215 inmates.
