FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ESCAPES AT WESTMORLAND INSTITUTION

DORCHESTER, NB, July 20, 2007 - Two inmates have escaped from the minimum security Westmorland Institution in the village of Dorchester, New Brunswick.

Joseph Robichaud and Brian Martin were noticed missing at 8:00 pm, on Friday, July 20, 2007. At 9:15 pm, Joseph Robichaud was apprehended in Memramcook by the RCMP and he was immediately returned to custody. At 1:00 am, on Saturday July 21, 2007 Brian Martin was apprehended in Memramcook by the RCMP and he was also immediately returned to custody.

Brian Martin is serving a sentence of 2 years, for property related offences.

Joseph Robichaud is serving a sentence of 2 years, property related offences and fraud under.

The Sackville RCMP was notified immediately of the incident. CSC cooperates fully with the police investigation.

The Correctional Service of Canada will conduct a review of all the circumstances surrounding this incident.
