FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Renous, N.B., July 25, 2007 - On Friday, July 13, 2007, 59 inmates housed in Unit 1 at Atlantic Institution were placed on a lockdown status.

Following an investigation and a search of Unit 1, two homemade weapons were seized.

The lockdown of Unit 1 has ended and the Institution has returned to normal routine.

Atlantic is a maximum-security institution located in the village of Renous, New Brunswick, which currently houses 213 inmates.
